PVC edge banding is a thin material that is used to protect plywood's exposed and raw edges. On one side, heat sensitive adhesive is applied to the board, while the other side serves as a dirt and moisture barrier. PVC edge banding is used to cover plywood sides to match the finished look of a cabinet, but it also prevents the inner plywood from warping.

Edge banding comes in a number of materials, but the two most popular are PVC and Veneer. Edge banding comes in a number of thicknesses as well. 0.5mm edge banding is used on cabinets in low-use environments, such as a home office, to save money while maintaining durability.
