Bitumen Penetration Grade *0/*0 is a
standard penetration grad. It usually as a Paving Grade Bitumen
Sutable for road pavements with superior properties.
Characteristics :
Paving Grades - road surfacing, and
some industrial applications.
Hard Grades - paints and enamels
etc.
Oxidised/Blown Grades - roofing,
waterproofing, electrical products, and many others.
Cutback Bitumens - spraying and some
mixing applications.
Bitumen Emulsions - used largely in
road surfacing applications.
Polymer Modified Binders (PMBs) -
there are diffrent types and they can be used for many of the
applications mentioned above.
Description :
Bitumen sutable for road construction and for the production of
asphelt pavements with superior properties. Penetration Grade
Bitumen' s are specified by the penetration and softening point
test. Designation is by peneetration range only. The penetration
grade bitumen's have a thermoplastic property which causes the
material to soften at high temperatures and to harden at lower
tempratures. This uniue temperature / visscosity relationship is
important when determining the performance parameters such as the
addition, theology, durability and application temperatures of
bitumen.
Other Applications :
Bitumens are also used in flooring materials ( mastic asphalt ), to
back carpet tiles, as joint sealants, in pipe coating ( both land
and marine ), in automotive applications, as adhesives and for
numerous other applications.
