PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Boron Nitride Coating have two kinds of forms. One is a powder mixed with water to form a highly refractory, very robust coating for skimmers, ladles , plungers pouring basins , launders refractories, etc.,. Coating can withstand long periods of use and abrasion. Another is liquid which specially designed to used for aluminum ingot mould and prevent mould from attack by molten metal.

PRODUCT FUNCTION

In the melting of aluminum alloys, there is a danger of iron contamination arising from the use of unprotected furnace tools. This may have a deleterious effect on castings and should be prevented by coating the areas of tools coming into contact with the molten alloys by a material which is both refractory and resistant to abrasion. Powder is suitable for this purpose. In the production of copper-base alloys iron may also be picked up. Although small quantities of iron do not greatly affect the mechanical properties of aluminum alloys, they may result in the incidence of hard inclusions in the casting.
Because of the higher temperatures involved, the life of unprotected tools may be very short. A regular treatment of BN-Powder protects furnace tools, increasing their life and reducing the risk of hard inclusions in casting.

PRODUCT APPLICATION

One kilogram of BN-Powder paste is mixed 0.5 litre of water when ready for use it has a creamy consistency. BN-Liquid coating is mixed 1Kg of kerosene when ready for use it. The mixture should be stirred thoroughly at intervals.
To apply to plungers, skimmers, tongs and other furnace tools, their cleaned working ends are thoroughly heated to between *0 and **0℃ and plunged into the freshly-stirred BN-coating mixture. The coating can be extended over any required area by brushing or swabbing. The treatment may be repeated several times daily as required.
Iron and steel ladles and shanks are given 3 or 4 coatings once or twice daily before use. Several thin coating give better protection than a single thick one.
It is very important that BN-Powder be thoroughly dried before being brought into contact with liquid metal. This may be done by placing them near to the furnace for a period and then into the furnace flame immediately before being used.
