Clad Steel Plate is a composite steel plate made by bonding stainless steel plate (cladding material) to either or both sides of carbon steel or low alloy steel plate (base metal). The materials mostly composite carbon steel plate and stainless steel plates. Clad steel plate mainly used in anti-corrosion and pressure vessels manufacturing.

Compared to austenitic stainless steels and alloys:

Compared to weld overlays:
- Homogeneity of chemical composition 
- Better metallurgical structure than weld overlays
- Greater choice of grades : 
   1.Safe cladding of grades susceptible to hot cracking 
   2. Cladding of materials forming an inter-metallic phase with base metals
   3.Cladding of ferritic grades 
- Lower inclusion content compared to weld overlays
- Better surface quality, no grinding required 
- Lower thicknesses of cladding (no dilution)
