Water
Body s requirement for water is much more than its requirement for
food. Although a person can live up to 8 weeks without food, he can
not live more than one week without drinking water. We lose **3
litres of water from our body (****5% of our body is water) in a
day through activities such as sweating and respiration. Water s
functions in the body which put forth its vital importance are as
follows:
- Ensuring that cells are nurtured and maintain life by carrying
food elements such as carbon hydrates, proteins, vitamins and
vvminerals.
- Ensuring that waste materials existing in the cells are carried
to the kidneys and taken out of the body.
- Ensuring that waste materials accumulated in the intestines are
taken out of the body.
- Slicking our joints.
- Keeping humidity of our skin under control.
- Ensuring that our blood has sufficient volume.
- Regulating body heat.
- On condition that we use drugs, ensuring that these drugs are
carried to the appropriate areas and waste materials existing as a
result of these drugs are taken out of the body.
How much should water consumption be?
Healthy water; is the water which is produced and packaged in
hygienic places and sterilized from hazardous plants and
chemicals.
What is Pure Water?
Pure water; is the water from which existing minerals are excluded
through methods such as distillation. Pure water does not include
some minerals which are essential especially for children and elder
people (such as calcium, magnesium, bicarbonate, sulphate and
chloride). Water whose strength level is very low is considered
some kind of pure water. It is tasteless as it does not contain any
mineral.
What are the Differences Between Tap Water and Packaged
Water?
Source of the packaged water is ground water. Ground water has a
little chance of pollution. Packaged water does not contain any
solid load as it is subject to a natural filtration through the
layers it passes through under ground and micron filtration before
packaging procedures. However, tap water (city network water) is
acquired through stream, lake, river or dam water which is called
surface water. Tap water should be purified or treated with
chemical procedures because of its source. However, packaged water
does not require any kind of purification or chemical procedures as
its source is clean. Packaged water is generally disinfected
through ozone technology which eliminates any odour or side effects
and ensures safety. Manufacturing facilities of packaged water are
subject to supervision and observation of official bodies and these
bodies have the authority and power to execute sanction on these
facilities. As packaged water has some minerals which are essential
for human body in specified proportions, mineral structure of tap
water could be variable. Packaged water is marketed for consumers
in their closed packages without any risk of pollution. Legal
limitations are advantageous for consumers in terms of packaged
water.
