 1/*0 of the grey iron pipe. Useful life is 2 times of grey
iron pipe , and 5 times of ordinary steel pipe.
Good plasticity. Elongation of this is 7% or higher, same as
 the high carbon steel material, and grey iron material’s
elongation is zero.
• High strength. tensile strength is  the same as the low
carbon steel material, Â three times of gray iron material.

• Because of the microstructure, nodular cast iron is better
than cast steel in weakening vibration ability.

• One important reason of choosing ductile iron is its lower
cost. Nodular cast iron’s lower cost makes this kind of
material more popular, Â more efficient, less machining
cost.

The strength of the nodular cast iron and cast steel strength is
comparable. Ductile cast iron has higher yield strength, the
yield strength minimum of *0 k, and cast steel yield strength
only *6 k. In most municipal application fields, such as: water,
salt water, steam, etc., corrosion resistance and oxidation
resistance of ductile iron are more than cast steel.
