Rapid immunochromatographic test for the detection of Cryptococcus Neoformans antigens in human serum and cerebrospinal fluid (CSF).

 

Cryptococcus Neoformans is an important opportunistic pathogen that often related to meninges, lung and skin infections. Cryptococcus Neoformans meningitis (CNM) is the most common occurred fungal infection in central nervous system [1]. Recent years, CNM has increased in morbidity and mortality significantly. According to the statistics, the prevalence of Cryptococcusmeningitis in America is about 5% to *0% in patients with AIDS, where a higher incidence rate can be found in certain developing countries [2]. Meanwhile, pulmonary cryptococcosis caused by respiratory system infected with Cryptococcus Neoformans exhibits a yearly increasing trend.

 

The Cryptococcal Antigen Lateral Flow Assay (LFA), by using specific antibodies against Cryptococcus Neoformansantigens in conjunction with colloidal gold technique, provides an effective supplementary method for the monitoring of sensitive population.
