Forskolin (7 beta-acetoxy*8, **-epoxy*1 alpha,6 beta,9 alpha-trihydroxy-labd***-ene***-one) is the main active ingredient in the Ayurvedic herb Coleus forskohlii. This herb looks very similar to mint plant and grows extensively in the Asian tropical and subtropical region mainly in India, Thailand, and Burma. Extensive studies have found this plant to have profound beneficial effect in treatment of allergies, respiratory problems, cardiovascular diseases, glaucoma, psoriasis, hypothyroidism and weight loss.

Forskolin increases the number of Cyclic AMP (cAMP) and also helps to increase the transport of certain proteins across the membrane of cell.

Use of Forskolin in inhibition of colon cancer cell growth
