CLASSICAL TOUR OF SRI LANKA

Day 1: AIRPORT HABARANA

On arrival the guests will be met by the representative of Silk Route Vacations (Pvt) Ltd at the airport arrival lobby and set off to Habarana. Check in to the hotel where the rest of the evening is at leisure. And overnight stay at hotel.

Day 2: HABARANA SIGIRIYA HABARANA

Early morning leave for Sigiriya and climb the Sigiriya Rock Fortress.
Sigiriya, considered by some as the eighth wonder of the world, consists of an ancient castle used by King Kasyapa of the 5th century AD. The Sigiriya site has the remains of an upper Sky Palace sited on the flat top of the rock, a mid-level terrace that includes the Lion Gate and the Mirror Wall and the world famous Sigiriya Frescoes, the lower palace that clings to the slopes below the rock, and the moats, walls and gardens that extend for some hundreds of metres out from the base of the rock. The upper palace on the top of the rock includes cisterns cut into the rock that still retain water. The moats and walls that surround the lower palace are still exquisitely beautiful. Upon descending the Sigiriya Rock, the guests will be taken to a picturesque paddy field of Sri Lanka to work with the village folk. The beginning of Paddy Cultivation in Sri Lanka, traces its root back to the proud history between **1 B.C. and ***7 A.D. Our ideal climatic conditions yielded a flourishing crop, which encouraged many Sri Lankans to make Paddy Cultivation their way of life. Thus it became a focal point of Sri Lankan lives, knitting a beautiful pattern including the society, culture and religious beliefs in the country.

Day 3: HABARANA DAMBULLA MATALE KANDY

After breakfast proceed to Kandy via Dambulla and Matale.
Discover the Dambulla Caves Rock Temple dated from First Century B.C. Visit an exotic Spice Garden in Matale where you can be treated to a garden tour and cooking demonstration to understand the taste and aroma of the world famous spices. Also take time to see the art of batik -the ancient art of dyeing cloth using a resist. Dutch traders were so impressed by this craft that in ***5, they brought Batik artists back to Holland with them when they returned from trading trips.
Arrive into the last stronghold of Sinhala Kings & UN World Heritage Site the Hill Country capital of Kandy. Explore the city's Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic. Wander around the lake and the streets of Kandy getting a feel for this wonderful city.
Kandy Excursions: • Gem Museum & Factory tour • Art & Craft Village In the evening witness a Cultural Show.

Day 4: KANDY NUWARA ELIYA

After breakfast leave for Nuwara Eliya.
Land of tea-laden hillsides, gurgling waterfalls, stirring mountains and clear hill-country air. Here, in temperatures akin to a beautiful English summer's day, is wonderful walking country, a chance to experience Sri Lankan scenery at its finest. Explore Nuwara Eliya - See how Ceylon tea is made and learn the art of becoming a discerning tea taster. Wander through the tea gardens and visit the local tea pluckers.

Day 5: NUWARA ELIYA UDAWALAWE

After breakfast proceed to Udawalawe. Visit the Udawalawe National Park. The Uda-Walawe National Park is situated in & around the Uda-Walawe Reservoir in South central Sri Lanka. Herds of wild elephants roam the banks of the reservoir while small game like deer or barking deer are spotted regularly as well.

Day 6: UDAWALAWE BENTOTA

After breakfast visit Udawalawe elephant transit home.
We think that the best way to visit the Elephant Transit Home (ETH) is to combine it with a visit to Udawalawe National Park. This provides the opportunity to see the orphans being fed, and also to see wild elephants in a stunning setting. In fact, you may even see some animals that were rescued by the ETH now roaming in the park. The orphans at the ETH can only really be seen at feeding times, which are 9am, *2noon, 3pm and 6pm. At these times they can be watched from the viewing platform for about twenty minutes while they are given milk. The rest of the time they spend in the National Park, out of view of people, in preparation for their return to the wild when they are about four years old. On completion proceed to Bentota.

Day 7: BENTOTA

Bfast in the hotel. Leave for a city tour of Galle the Heritage City.
Galle - Galle is a city situated on the South Western tip of Sri Lanka, **9 km from Colombo. Galle is the capital city of Southern Province of Sri Lanka and it lies in the Galle District. Galle is the best example of a fortified city built by Europeans in south and southeast Asia, showing the interaction between European architectural styles and south Asian traditions. The Galle fort is a world heritage site and the largest remaining fortress in Asia built by European occupiers. Other prominent landmarks in Galle include the natural harbour, the National Maritime Museum, St. Mary's Cathedral founded by Jesuit priests, one of the main Shiva temples on the island, and Amangalla the historic luxury hotel.

Day 8: BENTOTA AIRPORT

Check out of the hotel Airport for departure. Arrive at the airport 3 hours before flight departure. End of the Tour.
