Proprism is an isosceles rectangular prism shaped by glass block, with the end plane facing the right Angle. In use, the light enters through the large rectangular plane of the prism, passes through two full reflections of the inclined plane, and then emits through the original plane of incidence. Because light just goes in and out of the normal state, the prism does not have the effect of dispersion.

Proprism is used especially in many binoculars to provide image reconstruction and longer optical path folding, effectively reducing the distance between the objective lens and the eyepiece.
