Virtually every industry uses Perforated Metal Products and the list of applications grows daily. Perforated metal has a greater more predictable and accurate load bearing capacity than expanded metal or wire mesh. Perforated Metal is widely used in automotive, lighting, construction, agriculture, petrochemical, laundry, mining, military and acoustical applications. Perforated metals contain hole patterns of varying sizes and shapes created by punching presses. Types of hole patterns include staggered rounds, centers and squares, straight square slots, round and line squares, round slot end and side staggered and hexagons. Features of perforated metal compared with expanded metal and how to choose products between them: Expanded metal is similar to perforated metal, but it has been cut, rather than punched, and stretched into a shaped framework. Materials out of which expanded metal is made include sheets of steel, stainless steel, aluminum, tin, copper and plastic. Flattened expanded metal has been cold rolled to reduce thickness and increase surface smoothness. Using expanded metal is an ecologically-minded approach, as it is elaborated from discarded raw material. Expanded metal is basically transparent, has high resistance and excellent mechanical properties and is an excellent conductor. Expanded metal can be made out of non-metal products such as plastic, which then makes it an insulator.
