Roller Bearings

In cylindrical roller bearings (CRB) , the rollers and the raceway are in linear contact. Its

radial load capacity is pretty high. It is suitable for bearing heavy loads or impact loads, 

and also for high speed applications. CRB is a separable bearing type, which can be easily 

mounted or dismounted.

CRB can be divided into single row, double-row and multi-row. Basically it can only bear the 

radial load. Only when both the IR and OR are designed with ribs, can the single row CRB bear

some fixed small axial loads.



Spherical Roller Bearing(SRB) consists of two inner raceways, a spherical outer raceway and 

spherical rollers. The center of the outer raceway must be in line with the bearing center, 

thus make it self-aligning. It can adjust itself automatically against the decentration caused

by mounting errors between housings or shaft deflection. The bearing can still work when the 

deviation between the IR and OR centerlines is no more than 1°to 2.5°. It can bear the 

radial load and the axial loads from both directions. Especially for heavy loads and impact 

loads.

This kind of bearing has two different types - plain type and K type. The K type is fixed on

the shaft with an adapter sleeve or withdraw sleeve. It is convenient to mount or dismount.

SRB is mainly used on metallurgy, mining, heavy duty machinery, petroleum, chemical, paper-

making, architecture and so on.



Taper roller bearing (TRB) has tapered raceway in both IR and OR. And there are taper

rollers between raceways.If we extend the tapered surface, it will converge on one 

point on the bearing centerline. This bearing is mainly designed for the combined radial

and axial loads, in which the radial load dominates. The axial load capacity is determined

by the contact angle α,  i.e.the included angle of outer raceway. The bigger angle α , the 

larger axial capacity. TRB is a separable bearing type. IR together with rollers and cage

is called the inner assembly, OR is the outer one. They can be mounted separately. TRB can

be divided into single-row, double-row and multi-row, as per the roller arrangement.

This bearing is mainly used on the automotive front wheel, rear wheel, gearbox, pinion

shaft, main shaft on machine tools, construction machinery, large agriculture machinery,

railway vehicle gear reducer, roll neck reducer on rolling mill etc.
