Sodium formate
Sodium formate, HCOONa, is the sodium salt of formic acid, HCOOH. It usually appears as a white deliquescent powder.
Uses
Sodium formate is used in several fabric dyeing and printing processes. It is also used as a buffering agent for strong mineral acids to increase their pH, as a food additive (E**7), and as a de-iceing agent.
Application
It can be used to produce disguise acid in the method of chrome tanning; It is used for the catalyst and stable synthetic agent; Reducing agent of printing industry; It is used for chemical analytical reagent to determine the contents of arsenic and phosphorus , also used as a disinfectant, mordant and deicing salt and so forth. Sodium can also be used as a chemical raw material for production of sodium hydrosulfite, oxalic acid and formic acid.
