The straw patchwork which is also called Maigan picture could be traced back to the Sui Dynasty with more than 1,**0 years history. Huanghe valley is the main producing region of wheat in China. Therefore, Xi’an takes it for grant to be the cradle of straw patchwork after getting through the period of *3 dynasties. The straw craft is original from the folk, which makes full use of straw, the most natural, energy-efficient, renewable resources from the folk and processed with the method spread thousands of years. This artistic work (English name: Straw patchwork) needs to pass through over ten procedures including smoking, steaming, burning, blanching, sticking, combination and so on after lots of careful designs and prudent selections.
