In the leather industry the animal skins and hides are the main source of leather development. Both the skins and hides are treated chemically to preserve the best texture and best quality. This whole process is called Tanning. Tanning is done to make the leather flexible, strong and to resist the decaying of it. Many animals skins and hides are used for leather making like, Cows, goats, lambs, horses, etc.

When the skin of the animals is stripped off, it is first salted and then dried. This Process id called CURING. Basically there are two main processes or ways to cure, Wet-Salting & Brine Curing. But the mostly used process is Wet-Salting as its very easy and faster to get the resulted from the skin for its further processing. The Brine Curing starts with careful positioning of skins or hides in vats for smothering and mixture of salt & disinfectants.

Hide or Flossy salt contains some extra chemicals for pesticides on the hides and skins.

The mesh size distribution in this salt grade is between 0.5mm to 2mm.
