THICKENER TANKS

When a feed flow enters the concentrator, solids settle at the bottom. The clarified liquid
overflows from the top. The clean zone represents the clean transport liquid, which is free
of solids in most applications. The settling zone consists of a pallet with a consistency
that is quite homogeneous and has a solid concentration similar to that of the feed flow.
The compression zone shows a compressed pallet where solid particles force the liquid
through small openings, causing compression and dehydration.

High Rate Thickeners
High-speed concentrators are designed to maximize the flocculation efficiency of
flocculants. Unlike conventional concentrators, they are required to use flocculants. Highrate thickeners achieve lower solid concentrations.
The diameter of high-rate thickeners changes according to the capacity of the HRT. The
diameter of sample thickeners ranges from 1 to **5 meters.

High Compression Thickeners
Conventional thickeners differ from high-speed concentrators in terms of feed well
design, size, and control. There is no requirement to use flocculant in conventional
concentrators.
The diameter of high-compression thickeners changes according to the capacity of the
HCT. The diameter of sample thickeners ranges from 1 to *5 meters.

Paste Thickeners
It is a type of thickeners generally used to achieve very high solid concentrations. It is
designed for further concentration of solids in the feed flow. During gravitational settling,
it produces a very dense sludge, which often turns into a paste-like consistency instead
of a fluid.
The diameter of paste thickeners changes according to the capacity of the PT. The
diameter of sample thickeners ranges from 1 to *5 meters.
