Ultraviolet  (UV) light has shorter wavelengths than visible light and therefore not visible  to naked human eyes. Though there are visible to some living organisms, such as  bumblebees. The ultraviolet light is subdivided into three divisions, as per its intensity:

Near Ultraviolet - closest to visible light

Far Ultraviolet - closest to X-rays

Extreme ultraviolet - is in between both of the above rays.

The Ultra violet light rays are responsible for sunburns. The ozone layer in the atmosphere is a protective layer
