RDP is made from special polymer emulsion by spray drying. During processing, protective colloids, anti-caking agents, etc. become indispensable additives. After drying, the rubber powder is some *****0mm spherical particles aggregated together. These particles are soluble in water and form a stable dispersion that is slightly larger than the original emulsion particles. This dispersion will form a film after dehydration and drying. This film is as irreversible as ordinary emulsion film formation and will not be dispersed again in water Dispersions.

Dry mixing with other powders such as cement, sand, or light aggregate at a field site or manufacturing location can facilitate consistency and reliable performance.  VAE-RDPs are used as cement and plaster modifiers or as a binder resin for inorganic materials such as gypsum and hydrated lime. Formulators also use VAE-RDPs as the sole binder resin for construction adhesives.
