PAM (Polyacrylamide)

PAM is a water-soluble polymer but it is insoluble in most of the organic solvent. It has a good flocculability. It can reduce the friction resistance between liquids. According to the ion’s characteristic, it can be divided into non-ionic type, anionic type, cationic type and amphoteric type.

Product Performance

1. Flocculability: PAM can make the suspended materials to have a flocculation effect through the mechanism of electric neutralization, bridging and adsorption.

2. Adhesivity: It can have a bonding effect through the mechanical, physical and chemical reaction. 

3. Drag reduction: PAM can effectively reduce the friction resistance of fluid. Besides, a small number of PAM can reduce the drag by ****0%.
4. Thickening property: Under both neutral and acidic conditions, PAM can have a thickening effect. When PH value is above *0, it is easier to hydrolyze. When it is of a semi-mesh structure, its thickening ability is stronger.

 Application 

    It is mainly used in the processing of industrial wastewater, coal washing wastewater, drinking water. It can help the river sludge to precipitate and it is also used as a paper-making assistant agent.

 Usage and Notes

1. The operation should be launched in an enamel galvanized bucket, an aluminum bucket or a plastic bucket rather than an iron container when PAM is made or stored. 

2. The product should be slowly put into a container with the mixing and heating facilities when it is dissolved. In order to avoid agglomeration, the solution should be made in a proper temperature and it should avoid long time intense mechanical shearing. The speed of stirrer should be *0 to **0rpm, or it will cause the depolymerization to make the solution less effective.

3. PAM solution should be made when it is needed. When it is placed for a long time, it will gradually lose its effect in some degree.

4. If PAM solution is stirred intensely for a long time when the flocculant solution has been added into turbid liquid, the formed flocculates will be broken.
