The roller arrangement is designed as per optimized continuous straightening theory and can effectively reduce the deformation rate of billet surface and the two-phase region. Cracks during straightening with liquid core could be avoided. The straightener adopts fully water-cooled type of structure (it leads the domestic level in terms of service life and equipment reliability).

The straightener gives a certain amount of pressure on the solidification end of the billets for reasonable distribution of enriched molten steel of the intermediate dense zone to reduce the severity of segregation and diminish central porosity and shrinkage. Most modern caster with high technical standard adopts this advanced method to improve billet inner quality and prevent cracks as well as reduce central shrinkage, meanwhile limit the development of segregation and porosity.
