Yemen honey is the rarest and most highly valued honey in the world.  It is sought after by lovers of honey due to its unique and exquisite taste and because of the many health benefits that it holds.

Acknowledged by the UN Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) – Codex Standard for Honey (CODEX STAN ******1) – for its medicinal and nutritive benefits, the precious honey is made by bees who only feed on the nectar of the flowers grown on Sidr tree, which is a native of the Hadramaut region of Yemen.

‘And thy Lord taught the bee to build its cells in hills, on trees and in (men’s) habitations.  Then to eat of all the produce (of the earth), and find with skill the spacious paths of its Lord: there issues from their bodies a drink of varying colours, wherein is healing for mankind: verily in this is a Sign for those who give thought.’ (Al Quran *6:****9)
 

Every Drop of Honey Holds the Spark of Life

The Sidr tree is historically sacred in Yemen and has been used to promote health and healing in various ways.

Its leaves are rich in calcium, iron and magnesium and are used as a herbal shampoo to treat dandruff and head lice.  The leaves are also used to treat swollen eyes, abscesses and furuncles, and to counter obesity. When mixed with warm water the leaves can used as a disinfectant to clean the body while the oil from the resin can be used as a deodorant.

Its wood ash is used for the treatment of snakebites. Its fruits are found to have a very high energy value while its seeds are rich in protein.  The root and stem bark are used in various medicinal preparations. Other known medicinal uses include as a stomachic, an appetizer, an astringent and also as a cough medicine.
