Solar home system Introduction

Solar home system consists of the solar modules, the solar controller, the storage battery (ies). If the output power is **0 VAC or **0VAC, the inverter will be needed too. Function of each basic part is:

1. The solar modules: The solar module is the core and the most valuable part of the solar electricity generating system. The function is to convert the radiation of the sun into electricity or send it to the storage battery, or promote the workloads.

2. Solar Controller: The function of the solar controller is to control the working status of the whole system, and provide the charging protection and over-discharge protection for the storage battery. In places where differences in temperature are too high, the qualified controller shall have the function to compensate the temperature. Other additional functions such as the light-operated switch or the time-operated switch are all option for the controller.

3. Storage Battery: Normally the lead-acid battery. In small and micro systems, nickel-hydrogen cell, nickel-cadmium cell or lithium cell can be used too. The function is to storage all electricity emitted by the solar modules when there is the sunlight, and to release the electricity when necessary.

4. Inverter: The direct output solar energy is normally *2VDC, *4VDC, and *8VDC. To provide power for apparatus of **0VAC, DC-AC inverters are required.
