**Carbonless paper** (also known as **NCR paper**, short for "No Carbon Required") is a chemically coated paper designed to create **instant copies of handwritten or printed documents** without the need for carbon sheets. It consists of **multiple layers (CB - Coated Back, CFB - Coated Front and Back, CF - Coated Front)** that contain **microcapsules of dye or ink**, which rupture upon pressure (from writing or printing) to transfer the image onto subsequent sheets.
