Humulin (Generic name: Insulin) *0/*0 is a mixture of *0% intermediate-acting insulin (isophane) and *0% short-acting insulin (regular, [rDNA origin]). It works by lowering levels of glucose (sugar) in the blood. Humulin starts to work as quickly as regular insulin but lasts up to *4 hours following injection. In some people with diabetes, insulin may be used alone or with other diabetes drugs (e.g., sulfonylureas like glyburide). Humulin is only part of a complete program of diabetes treatment that may also include diet, exercise, weight control, dental care, and regular blood sugar tests.
