Safracin tulle

SAFRACIN TULLE® contains 1% Framycetin sulfate BP .  Framycetin sulfate is a broad spectrum antibiotic, will control and eradicate most secondary infections which may be present in the lesion and at the same time will provide an excellent mechanical protection which does not adhere to granulating skin.  SAFRACIN TULLE®is easy to apply and may be removed painlessly.  Application of the dressing does not result in maceration of the lesion.

INDICATIONS

SAFRACIN TULLE®is indicated for treatment against most common skin pathogens including Staphylococcus aureus, Staphylococcus epidemidis, Streptococcus pyogenes, nonhemolytic streptococci, E.coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, proteus as follows :

-    Traumatic : Lacerations, abrasions, bites (animal and insect), cuts, surgical wounds and incisions, traumatic ulcers

-    Ulcerative : Varicose ulcers, diabetic ulcers, bed-sores, tropical ulcers

-    Thermal : Burns, scalds

-    Elective : Skin grafts (donor and recipient sites), circumcision

-    Secondary infected skin conditions : Eczema, dermatitis, herpes zoster, colostomy, acute paronychia, incised abscesses

CONTRA-INDICATIONS

SAFRACIN TULLE® is contraindicated where there is known allergy to lanolin or to framycetin sulfate, or where organisms are known to be resistant to the later.

PRECAUTIONS

Cross sensitization to framycetin may occur in patients known to be allergic to streptomycin derved antibiotics (neomycin, paramomycin, kanamycine) in most cases absorption of the antibiotic is negligible.  However where large body areas are involved e.g. *0% or more body burn, the possibility of ototoxicity being produced by prolonged applications should be borne in mind.

DIRECTION FOR USE

If necessary, the wound may first be cleaned.  Following this single SAFRACIN TULLE®should be applied directly to the wound and covered with an appropriate dressing.  In the case of ulcers it is advisable to cut SAFRACIN TULLE® exactly to the size of the ulcer and not to overlap onto the surrounding epidermis.  When the lesion is very exudative it is advisable to change the dressing at least once a day, otherwise it may be left in situ for **3 days.
