CS**2, which is developed by Guangzhou DongHuang Chemical
Technology Co, Ltd, is a coalescent solvent widely used in latex
architectural trade paints. It is a slow evaporating solvent and
difficult to dissolve in water. They provide many excellent
properties to the coating: high scrub resistance, color
development, stable property, ect. It serves as an excellent
coalescing aid for emulsion polymers with good hydrolytic
stability, can be used in different kinds of latex paints, such as
high pH latex coatings. After adding CS**2 into latex coatings, it
was adsorbed by emulsion polymers and soften them, so that it can
complete the fusion process when drying the film. Because of the
excellent hydrolytic stability, CS**2 wont be absorbed with water
when painted on porous material.
Product application
1) With a good hydrolytic stability, CS**2 can be used with all
kinds of the emulsion, include the pure acrylic emulsion with high
pH.
(2) When CS**2 is added to emulsion paint,it will be absorbed in
emulsion particles to soften the particles to let them better to
integrat when painting. It will not be sucked into the permeable
matrix, but it can be effectively coalesced emulsion particles.
(3) CS**2 requires no special treatment in winter because of the
low freezing point.
(4) CS**2 is easily to mixed with the emulsion, and will not affect
the stability of the coating in high concentrations .
(5) CS**2 is a strong solvent of the emulsion polymer .

Operating and instruction
1) For emulsion paint, the dosage of CS**2 mainly depends on the
hardness of the emulsion polymer, compared to the soft emulsion
(low Tg values), the hard emulsion (high Tg value) need to add more
dosage to achieve the same film-forming effect.In addition, using
the same formula but different ingredient (P,A,V,C, will be
different ), will also require different CS**2 dosage.
2) In general, the dosage of CS**2 depend on the 3
~8% solid content of emulsion.
Larger dosage will obtain better results.It dose not affect the
stability of the emulsion when not exceed *2% of solid content of
emulsion.
3) It process is very simple when using CS**2 in latex paint
production. In principle, it can be added directly at any stage in
the production. If gel formation occur when adding the material, in
advance it could be mix with surfactant and water which is used in
latex paint production, then add into the emulsion.
4) If CS**2 is added in two stage, it will fully play its special
role:
A) Add half amount of CS**2 in the grinding stage, it would help
the wetting and dispersion of pigment and filling.
B) Add another half in paint mixing stage, CS**2 will help prevent
bubbles.
