Andretti worked with Pacific Cigar Co. to develop the Andretti cigar line, released in November. Pacific Cigar sales and marketing manager Benjamin Brignola said that the company based the cigar blend on the racing legend’s smoking preferences. Andretti, the only driver to win the Daytona **0, Indy **0 and Formula One world title, told Cigar Insider that he has been enjoying cigars for about *0 years. “A cigar in the evening after a meal—this is when I am most relaxed, ” said Andretti. “I slow down when I smoke a cigar.” Pacific Cigar first released the Commendatore, measuring 6 1/2 inches by *0 ring. The cigar shares the title with its namesake, who was distinguished as a Commendatore dell’Ordine al Merito della Repubblica Italiana in October ***6. The Italian government honored Andretti because of his accomplishments, public service and dedication to his Italian heritage. Pacific has since released five other sizes: Robusto, which measures 4 1/2 inches by *0 ring; Toro, 5 1/2 by *0; Churchill, 6 3/4 by *6; Double Corona, 7 1/2 by *0; and Corona, 5 1/2 by *2. The Andretti cigars, which are rolled in the Dominican Republic, have binders and fillers from the San Victor region of the Dominican’s Cibao Valley. The wrappers are either Ecuadoran shade-grown Connecticut or Brazilian maduro. This is Andretti’s second business venture into the realm he refers to as “the good life.” Andretti has been vice chairman of Andretti Winery since ***6, and credits his appreciation for the finer things in life to his years spent racing across the world.
