Fiber Mat technology is applied to build stress absorbing membrane interlayer (SAMI) of fiber and asphalt tack coat, which lies between the old asphalt top coat and the newly built one, or between new road bed and new asphalt top coat. The SAMI-fiber, featured by its excellent tensility and elasticity properties and special structure, is able to absorb and distract the outer stress. On one hand, it absorbs the stress from the paved layers or the locally concentrated stress produced by traffic load, then distracts and distributes the stress, which is able to reduce the tension on the layers and restraint cracks appearing by means of fiber mat distraction; on the other hand, it absorbs and distracts stress reflection produced by the old cracks in the old asphalt pavement or road bed, and eliminate the concentrated stress produced by the peak of old cracks, thereby effectively restraints reflection cracks producing, prevents the overloaded traffics damaging to the pavement and prolong the service life of road at large extent.
