JOURNEY OF A FALLEN LEAF In a land farther south, there lives a tree with slender, green feather fronds tucked away in a lush tropical forest. One such droopy frond was found by an indigenous boy walking barefooted and alone. He was gathering food and firewood to help feed his family dinner that night. On the way back home, he had to take shelter from a sudden downpour. Feeling thirsty, he cupped up the droopy leaf to collect rainwater, and later covered himself with that large frond and ran away to the warmth and comfort of his home. With no sight of relief from the rain, the droopy frond became his sole obsession and played an important role in all his imaginary heroic fights to save the world. Tired and hungry, the boy fell asleep, and when he woke up the next day, his mother served him hot rice pancakes on a plate made from the droopy leaves woven together. Thus the frond went on serving the whole family as leaf plates and bowls till the rains gave away.
