International Tourism Destination has been established as a national strategy for the Chinese Central Government. New hotel constructions are rushing toHainan. By ***5, there will be more than **0 new star-rated hotels inHainan, most of which will be deluxe four and five-star hotels, and even seven-star hotels which are currently under construction. In addition to the hotels, SPA, clubs, resorts and leisure mansions will establish branches in Hainan to guide the booming hospitality industry inHainan. Large amounts of hotels were built inDubaiin the past, and nowHainanwill prove to be a dominant competitor in the hospitality industry.

CHINA’S POLICIES

On the 4th Jan. ***0, the Chinese government has implemented the policy of transformingHainaninto an international tourism destination. Announced on 1st Jan. ***1, the tax refunds will be available for foreign visitors who travel to, implying that a series of policies and construction plans are soon to be launched. Since the enforcement of tax refunds,Hainanhas experienced a new wave of travelers at larger scales than ever before, including queues lining up around duty-free shops.

HOSPITALITY INDUSTRY’S FORESEEABLE GROWTH

The establishment of the international tourism destination and the rising ofHainantourism bring in huge amounts of customers, providing a broad market for the development of the hospitality industry. In ***8, **9 hotels were star-rated inHainanProvince, among which *0 were five-star class, *4 were four-star class, **6 were three-star class, *5 were two-star class and *4 were one-star class. Also, there were a total of ****4 available guest rooms with **7, **0 available beds. After the international financial crisis, the hotel industry was undergoing a gradual recovery in ***9. By the end of ***9, **8 hotels were star-rated inHainanProvince, among which *0 were five-star class, *4 were four-star class and **2 were three-star class. Theoccupancy of guest room was up to *9.*8% and comparative figures of ***0 are currently being updated and expected to grow.
