Description
Do not place
heavy objects on the expansion joints and protect them from fire
and sparks. Transportation Frames , if any, must be taken off after
installation, before bringing to
service.
T.C.I fabric expansion joints are
delivered in properly packaged
condition.
They must be
stored in a dry and clean place and may not be subjected to solar
radiation.
Avoid contact
with sharp-edged objects during storage.
The expansion
joints may only be removed from the packaging just before
assembly.
BEFORE
ASSEMBLY:
Please check the following first
:
1, Quantitied
of delivery are correct .
2, Flange
dimension & drilling pattern are correct (expansion joints and
steel parts)
3, Actual
installation length corresponds with expansion joint
dimensions
4, Steel parts
are clean, free of sharp edges and
pollution
5,
Installation without torsion and with no lateral off-set is
possible
6, All
elements in contact with the expansion joints are rounded(minimum
radius 3mm)
DURING
ASSEMBLY:
Please consider the following
points:
1, During
installation of the expansion joints make sure no welding,
grinding, scaffolding is going on.
2, Don’t apply
torque to the expansion joints during installation and protect the
expansion joints against sharp-edged objects or
tools.
3, Fabric
expansion joints may never be subjected to pipe loads, they can
only take movement.
4, Correct
positioning of intermediate and fixed anchors is
essential.
5, Make sure
that inside and outsides of the expansion joints are correctly
positioned.
6, Expansion
joints with PTFE-foils have to be handled with extreme
care.
7, Use copper
grease for all bolt assemblies.
8, Tighten the
bolts equally and try to avoid folds in the expansion
joint
9, Please fix
the bolts with the threads facing
outside.
*0, For
application with over pressure, always use sunken head
bolts.
AFTER
START-UP:
Please consider the following
points:
1, 4 Weeks
after installation or after the first hot run all the bolts have to
be re-tightened.
2, Fabric
expansion joints must not be painted or
coated.
3, Fabric
expansion joints must not be cleaned with a high pressure hose, a
steam cleaner, caustic cleansing agents or cleansing agents
containing solvents.
4, The
expansion joints don’t need any
weather-protection.
SERVICE AND
MAINTENANCE:
Expansion
joints are wear-and-tear parts. No expensive maintenance is
required. We recommend a routine inspection at least every 3
months. If deterioration is spotted, spare-parts can be ordered in
time so that the expansion joints can be exchanged during the first
shut-down to come.
If an
installed expansion joints has to be removed from its position
temporarily, we recommend replacement.
