Description
Talcum powder is a type of talc within magnesium silicate saline
mineral talc group. Its major composition is magnesium silicate
that contains water, which shows to be silicon dioxide and
magnesia; Talcum belongs to monoclinic crystal system. The crystal
appears to be pseudohexagonal or rhombic flake, and it often
appears to be compact block, vane, radiation or fiber shaped
aggregation in general. It is colorless and transparent or white,
but it may display light green, light yellow, light brown or even
light red as it contains a little sundries; The cleavage plane of
the product shows pearl luster.
Talcum has many excellent physical and chemical properties, such
as: Strong lubricating performance, adhesion resistance,
flow-promotion, refractory character, acid resistance, insulation,
high melting point, inactive chemical property, high hiding
ability, tenderness, perfect luster and strong absorbability. As
the crystal structure of talcum is stratiform, it has such trend to
easily split into squama and special lubricating performance.
Talcum powder is widely applied in medical, household and personal
care chemical, food, paper making, rubber plastic, paint /coating,
felt, porcelain, leather making industries. It can enhance the
