Design:
The very unusual suspension Pipe sospensione by Artemide has a an extremely pliable continuous steel flexible coated with a transparent anti-yellowing silicone, which is flared at its end to make room for the conical diffuser containing the fluocompact lamp. This lamp gives off a concentrated direct light. The inner reflector from mirror-polished aluminium together with the additional micro-perforations of varied dimensions on its sides generates a dazzle-free light and in the same time it makes the lamp interesting. For this reason this lamp can be installed in rooms where people work with computers. The pipe that has been specially processed makes it easy to direct the light in order that it can be more concentrated or indirect and scattered. The lenses and the diffusor from transparent polycarbonate have undergone a special treatment in order to protect them from ultra-violet rays. This lamp is equipped with an electronical ballast. The use of a compactfluorescent lamp makes sure that this light object with an outstanding design is an efficient light source. However its light intensity cannot be varied. Pipe Sospensione has been created by the renowned swiss architect's office Herzog & de Meuron that also designed the Munich Allianz Arena Stadium in Munich, Germany as well as the "bird's nest" National Stadium in Peking on occasion of the Olympic Games ***8.
