Chondroitin, glucosamine as well as hyaluronic acid are important
substances for the constitution and the preservation of the tissue
structures of the movement apparatus. Bones, cartilages as well as
the synovial liquid depend on the supply of these nutrients. In
case the body cannot produce enough of these substances, the
synovial liquid becomes thinner and more watery. The joints thereby
are conditioned by the absence of lubricant and become more
susceptible to wear. The body ordinarily produces sufficient
amounts of these substances. Nevertheless while the age is
increasing, the glucosamine production is decreasing. As a
consequence, the joints dry up and become more susceptible to
overloading.
