Description:

EN*6 is a 2.5% nickel - chromium - molybdenum high hardenability, high tensile steel, generally supplied hardened and tempered in the tensile range ***0 - ***0 Mpa (Condition V) Rc *1 - *8.
Characterised by high strength and toughness in very large sections - similar to EN*5 but with higher carbon content, particularly suitable where high surface pressure exists.
Pre hardened and tempered EN*6 can be further surface hardened by flame or induction hardening, and by nitriding.

APPLICATIONS:

The steel is suited to applications where high surface pressures exist and friction is to be resisted as in the case of severely loaded gears, axles and pinions.

It is used extensively in most industry sectors for applications requiring higher tensile strength and yield strength than ***0, ***0 or En*5 can provide.
