General Description & External links

Menthol, also known as peppermint camphor, is a monoterpene 
(*0 carbons); topical pain reliever and antipuretirelieves itching
obtained from mint oils mainly peppermint) or made synthetically
from coal tar. It is a white crystalline compound with a characteris
tic pungent odor. An alcohol, menthol is freely soluble in alcohols, 
ether, and chloroform. It exists in levo or dextro isomer forms.  Me
ntholimparts a tingling sensation to the skin and used in skin fres
heners like aftershave and suntan lotions. It has a local anesthet
ic property for shortterm relief of minor sore

throat and minor muscle aches. It is used in medicines and perfum
es, and as a mintflavoring agent. End applications include toothpas
te, cough drops, ice cream, chewing gum, shampoo, medical plaster.

Storage and transportion 

It should be stored in a dry and ventilated warehouse and avoid sun
dry odors pollution.Sunlight and rain should be prevented during tra
nsportation.
