-The peanut is not a nut, but a legume related to beans and lentils. 

-A study published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition showed that diets higher in monounsaturated fats from peanuts and peanut butter reduces the risk of cardiovascular disease by twenty one % compared to the average American Diet, whereas a low-fat diet reduced the risk by only  twelve %. 

-A diet containing peanuts and peanut butter is a good source of protein and helps to include more of the "good fat" (unsaturated fat) and both naturally have zero cholesterol.
