Characteristic:
Gamma-butyrolactone is a non-toxic transparent liquid in the shape
of oil. It can be mixed with water and dissolved by ethanol, ether,
benzene and acetone. It can dissolve many other organic and
inorganic compound.Â
Application:
GBL is a common solvent and reagent in chemistry and
is used as a stain
remover, as a superglue remover,
as a paint
stripper, as rust remover for garages or industrial cleaning
firms, and as a solvent in
some wet aluminium electrolytic capacitors.
