The use of high-temperature materials is especially become important for high and ultra-high temperatures applications in modern key industries. One way to define high temperature is on a material's oxidation behaviour: the reason that some metals can be used at higher temperatures despite the process of high temperature corrosion is that they form dense, slow growing oxide scales which cannot be penetrated and which therefore protect the subjacent metal against further attack from gas phase.On the other hand, it can also be defined in terms of changes in the mechanical properties.
