The machine is designed specifically to produce aluminum castings (motor cycle and passenger car cylinder heads, flywheel covers, structural parts, etc.) by Low Pressure Casting Process. The machine and tooling integration will be optimized for both cycle time and quality. Low Pressure Machine System is composed as follows: - Tubular steel supporting legs - Vertical actuated press - Holding furnace - Mold cooling circuits - Hydraulic circuit - Electrical and control boards - Computerized control system The mold press is constructed of two platens connected by four tubular columns and a mobile frame which close the mold, mainly composed of two mobile plates, connected by 4 chrome steel columns **0 mm diameter, that make up the guide system of the moving mold platen. This one slides on the columns through 4 long low friction precision bushes. The movement of the press is carried out by a hydraulic cylinder fixed on a top fixed plate. It is connected to the mobile plate for the mobile plate movement. Some sliding keys, installed in the connection part between each columns and the mobile plate, allow thermal expansions of mobile plate, which, on the contrary, could make the columns no more parallel among them causing a slack in the guiding bushings. The mobile and the fixed lower plate are foreseen for the connection of 4 hydraulic cylinders each (not supplied). The minimum closing distance of the press is **0 mm. The furnace lid is designed to host one or two raiser tubes, according the casting requirements. The tubes can have different positions along the furnace horizontal axis, depending on the type of mould used. According to these positions, a special support to be positioned on the furnace opening is necessary each time.
