Oregano
has a strong, herbaceous, green-camphoraceous, medicinal top note.
The middle note is spicy, medicinal. The dry out is sweet-phenolic
woody, bitter-sweet. Oregano is a highly active oil that can be a
strong skin irritant; its use should be limited to purifying
diffusions. Add lemon to sweeten the spicy, medicinal aroma.
Oregano oil offers a variety of uses, due to its powerful
antibiotic, antifungal, and antihistamine properties. Often used
speed the healing of common skin problems including abrasions,
wounds and irritations, oregano oil can also be used as a gargle to
reduce swollen lymph nodes and sore throat. Also commonly used to
help reduce muscle aches, as a rub.
