Description
Hemp oil. A useful heritage
The plant cannabis sativa is an ancient crop, description of which
is found in the writings of the Roman writer Pliny the Elder. He
wrote that it was used in cooking, as well as in medicine and
household.
Hemp oil has long been known by many peoples, but it was
particularly popular in Rus. People used hemp seed oil for
centuries, until in the *8th *9th centuries it was replaced by
sunflower oil. However, hemp oil was not forgotten, and hemp was
actively cultivated as a valuable agricultural crop until the
middle of the last century.Hemp seed oil has numerous unique
features which are not typical of any other oil. Rich in
antioxidants, it prevents thrombosis, lowers cholesterol levels and
helps to lose weight. Stearidonic and gamma-linolenic acids
contained in hemp oil are not synthesised by the human body, but
are vital for its health.
One of hemp oil components is chlorophyll, which gives the oil its
greenish tint. But the main merit of chlorophyll, and therefore,
the oil, is that it prevents cancer tumours in the body, and the
regular use of hemp oil reduces the risk of oncologic diseases.
In addition, hemp seed oil contains indispensable polyunsaturated
fatty acid omega*3 and a full range of aminoacids. Hemp oil has the
optimal correlation of two essential fatty acids omega*3 and
omega*6 in the ratio of 1:3 respectively. Fatty linolenic and
alpha-linolenic acids, which are necessary for growth, are also
found in hemp oil.
Apart from acids, the oil comprises vitamins A, B1, B2, B6, E, K,
D, trace elements and minerals calcium, zinc, iron, phosphorus,
potassium, manganese and sulphur.
Scientists believe that hemp seed oil composition is uniquely
balanced and is ideal for human body.
