  Yunnan Alphy Biotech Co.,Ltd. is a high-technology company engaged in engineering large-cell culture ofHaematococcus pluvialis for the production of natural astaxanthin. The company was founded May *0, ***7, with registered capital of ten million yuan. The registered business scopes include; Biotechnology research and development and technology transfer, Aquaculture of aquatic organisms, and production and marketing of related products.

The Alphy Biotechnology Comapany and the Institute of Oceanology, Chinese Academy of Sciences (IOCAS) agreed to carry out collaborative projects on the large-scale cell culture of Haematococcus pluvialis for production of natural astaxanthin in May ***7. Before the cooperation, IOCAS had already developed fully intellectual property rights for the culture method, thank to decades of basic studies, from laboratory to pilot scale.

       During the past 5 years, additional progress was achieved for mass-culture of Haematococcus pluvialis in tubular photobioreactors, column photobioreactors and raceway ponds, in reducing biological contamination and related studies, our astaxanthin products have been certified to meet activity and safety requirements.

 

The company is located in ZiWu Village of Chuxiong City, Yunnan Province, in Southwest China. This location has unique advantages for microalgal culture. The local climate is subtropical with a monsoon season. Diurnal temperature changes are small; winters are mild without significant cold, summers lack extreme heat; there are distinct wet and dry seasons. There is adequate sunshine, with an average annual sunshine of ***0 hours. Average annual temperature is *4.8～*1.9 degrees Celsius. Average annual precipitation is **0～***0mm, and mainly concentrated in July to October. The local biological species have a high level of biodiversity. The ecological environment, is very sutible for microalgal biotechnology research and development. The Companys total cultivation area covers **0 mu (about *7 hectares).

 In cooperation with the Institute of Oceanology, Chinese Academy of Sciences company in ***7, cooperation in the research process, the formation of a research team composed by professional researchers and corporate technology backbone, to build a complete technical support system.   

     Since ***7 Yunnan Alphy Biotech Co., Ltd. has developed a very good collaborative relationship with the Institute of Oceanology, Chinese Academy of Sciences. To date, A few academic experts with doctoral degrees and the company\'s backbone of technicians make up the Yunnan Alphy Biotech Co., Ltd research team.

      In ***9, Yunnan Alphy Biotech Co., Ltd was identified as a high-tech enterprise by the Yunnan Technology Bureau, making our company the first Chinese high-tech enterprise in the astaxanthin industry. At the same time, our company won support from the national gold SME Innovation Fund, and was included in the national " **3" projects.

       In June ***9, our company was indentified as high-tech enterprise by Yunnan Technology Bureau, Alphy\'s methodology for cultivation of Haematococcus pluvialis (Accumulation astaxanthin in the raceway ponds and  Airlift Photobioreactors) and downstream technology for product processing, were obtained through scientific research achievements technology appraisal, and these have now reached an advanced international level.

      In ***0, Yunnan Alphy Biotech Co., Ltd was identified as a National Torch Program by the National Science and Technology Department, and our company was accredited certification for the ISO***0 international quality management system and the ISO****0 food safety management system.

       On July 7, ***2. Alphy\'s methodology for cultivation of Haematococcus pluvialis and downstream technology for product processing, were obtained through scientific research achievements technology appraisal by International Algae Association President John Van Der Meer and the Chinese Academy of Sciences Beijing institute of botany Tingyun Kuang, and these have now reached an advanced international level.

     In ***3,Yunnan Alphy Biotech Co., Ltd was approved by the state to establish a workstation for a dedicated academic expert in algal research.

      On May *9, ***3, Alphy\'s natural Haematococcus pluvialis powder and astaxanthin oleoresin were obtained export food producing enterprises for the record by CIQ in Yunnan province.

     On September *1, ***3, the former president of the International Algae Association John Van Der Meer was hired as a senior consultant in Yunnan Alphy Biotech Co., Ltd.

    On September *1, ***3, Yunnan Development and Reform Commission was agreed to rely on Yunnan Alphy Biotech Co.,Ltd. to establish Yunnan\'s Haematococcus pluvialis Engineering Research Center.

Research on astaxanthin for human health

       All cells in our bodies are constantly exposed to reactive free radicals that are produced from smoking, irradiation, pollution and also as a by-product of metabolism itself. A higher level of free radicals, as compared to antioxidants, leads to increased oxidative stress in the body.

      Oxidative stress causes many health problems because it damages proteins, lipids, DNA and enzymes, which leads to dysfunctional cells and inflammation.chronic,low-level inflammation. Because astaxanthin is taken up by all cells in the body and reduces oxidative stress, it has demonstrated several health benefits in clinical studies.

      The aim of our medical research is to develop methods for the prevention and treatment of ailments caused by oxidative stress and low-level inflammations,so as to inprove health and quality of life.

The astaxanthin in Haematococcus pluvialis occurs in the esterified form, which is more stable than the free astaxanthin form.

Astaxanthin introduction
      Astaxanthin protects the highly concentrated polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs) present in cell membranes and muscles in salmon, these fats being the main energy powerhouse during their famous upstream marathon.

       In fish, astaxanthin has been shown to have a synergistic effect with other important antioxidants such as vitamins C and E.

      Astaxanthin is responsible for the pigmentation of seafoods such as wild salmon, trout, red sea bream, lobster, and shrimp. It plays a crucial role in human and animal physiological systems, giving protection against oxidation and UV light, stimulating the immune response, and promoting heart, brain, eye, joint, and skin health.
