BALLISTIC HELMET TT-A (L)
The development of this helmet was carried out under some private initiatives, taking into accountthe experience andreqiurements of the Special Forces of Ukraine basic on the Anti-terrorist Operation field experience in the East of country.
Initial basic demands for R&Dwasthe following.
1. Helmet should befitted as close as possible to the head to reduce its size and the angular momentum of inertia. This featurewill slow down afatigue ofsoldier and provide additional convenience in airbornlanding and combat operations, especially in a limited space compartments of combat vehicles.
2. The helmet should retain their ballistic properties afterrepeated contacts with bullets and munitionfragments > **0 mps at the level of protection IIIA NIJ Standard ***8.*1, *2 V*0 STANAG ***0, class 2 GATS ***********7 (Ukraine). Deformations of the helmet shell should be minimal, not to change the overall geometry, not to create discomfort for asoldier and repairment can be possible nearthe battlefield. Today, these requirements are achieved by manufacturing a lot ofballistic helmets made with carbon-plasticsand other modern polymers. At the same time after the first defeat of such kind helmets, further exploitation ceases to be impossible. Such materials after ballistic impact of losing their tactical and technical characteristics, the multi-layer structure is destroyed, exposed to moisture and oxygen.
3. The geometric shape of the ballistic helmet shell should be close to the shape of FAST XP HIGH CUT HELMET helmets (Ops-Core production, USA), or 3M™ Combat High Cut Ballistic Helmet, USA. Compliance with this requirement will allow to adapt the helmet to a unified dozer accessories and pendant\'s types.
4. The helmet must have special coatings that minimize sunlight glare, reflection in the near infrared and thermal absorption / emission.
5. The weight of the helmet should be at or better than the characteristics of products specified in Section 3.
6. The cost of the helmet should be intwo times lower than the products that are listed in step 3.
These requirements are fully taken into account in the designed and manufactured ballistic helmet TT-A.
The special titanium alloy was selected as themost appropriate material. This allowed to makethe helmet body withthickness of 2.5 - 3 mm. High toughness of the material combined with its high strength allows for helmet shell material deformation not more than 5 mm. Proper selection damper head thickness (and their configuration is offered in two types - thickness *5 mm and *0) together with the thickness of the helmet body allowed to reduce its longitudinal and lateral size of *0 mm (*6%). At the same time a soldier fell fatigue from his extended wear.
Expected deformation of the helmet in case of hitting in by bullets and munition fragments (specified in paragraph 2 of protection classes) has to be not more than 5 mm. These deformations may be eliminated in the field simply by straightening followed by reduction with a spray layer. Such quality increases life of the product in many times .
Geometry of the helmet is made close to the product specified in Sec. 3 requirements. This allows the use of auxiliary equipment (accessories), which have proven themselves on the products of other manufacturers.
Special coatings contain aluminum silicate microspheres and other necessary excipients coming down sunlight glare, decrease reflection in the near infrared and thermal absorption / emission.
