   The power transformer is one of the main equipments which are used in power plants, substations and power terminals. The role of the transformer is not only to raise the voltage of the electric energy to the power supply area, but also to reduce the voltage to the level of the use of voltage, thus meeting the needs of electricity.    The transformer is composed of two or more winding coils which are wound on the same core, and the windings are connected by an alternating magnetic field and work according to the principle of electromagnetic induction. The transformer installation location should take account ease of operation, maintenance and transportation, and should stand at a safe and reliable place. When the transformer is used, the rated capacity of the transformer must be selected reasonably. For the transformer no-load operation, high reactive power will be required, and the reactive power will be supplied by the power supply system. If the transformer capacity is too high, not only the initial investment will be increased, but also the transformer will be in no-load or light load operation for a long time, increasing the proportion of no-load loss, reducing the power factor, increasing network loss, which may cause non-economical or non-reasonable operation. If the transformer capacity is too low, the transformer will be involved with long-term overload, which is easy to cause damage. Therefore, the rated capacity of the transformer should be selected according to the needs of the electricity load, neither too high or too low.
