Since the dawn of time, cotton has always been an element of rotation
Of peasant holdings in order to meet the domestic needs of cotton fabrics.
However the industrial needs of colonization has led to develop policies to promote this crop.
So the French company for the development of textiles (CFDT) is installed in Upper Volta in order to organize the cotton cultivation which until then was grown in the traditional way.
Fibre textiles SOCIETE GENERAL GRAINE SARLS (SGS) Burkinabe society therefore derives the French Company for the development of textile fibres (CFDT).
This company was mandated to promote the development of cotton production in Francophone, Africa and Madagascar A. from ***9.
Bobo dioulasso housed the regional Direction of West Africa.
Therefore the CFDT Mena activities in Cameroon, Madagascar, the Morocco, Senegal, Central African Republic and also in Upper Volta at the time.
With independence most of the countries became autonomous with regard to the Direction Regionale de Bobo Dioulasso and nationalized their cotton Companies
