Minera BioLantanidos

During the last decade the mining sector has been gradually opened to exploration and development of novel types of minerals and markets, that point to publics more and more massive and exigent in terms of public demand.

Among these types are the lanthanides, a group of *5 gray soft and sparkling metals corresponding to elements of the periodic table, that also includes scandium (Sc) and yttrium (Y) because of their chemical similarities.

Commonly, Lanthanides are called €rare earths€ because they are in the form of oxides (formerly called €lands€ in chemical jargon) because when the name was coined these minerals were rare to be commercially exploited.

However, in recent years the situation has changed: now these elements are extremely important because they are used daily in the production of technological devices such as notebooks, tablets, smartphones, lasers and aviation technology, among others.

In this context arises Minera BioLantnidos, a unique project from Minera Activa that will be the first to develop the market for Lanthanides in Chile and Southamerica.
