ABS sheet is generally used in thermoforming applications where good formability and a cosmetic appearance are desired. It has good impact strength, formability, and stiffness, excellent aesthetic qualities, and toughness, plus general purpose, low cost material, impact resistance and hair cell-textured surface also make it a good choice for applications where a structural cosmetic faceplate is desired. It is often used as panel inserts, and in audio/visual component applications due to its inherent scratch resistant surface. ABS is an extremely versatile thermoplastic. It has good chemical and stress-cracking resistance. It also combines toughness with rigidity and creep resistance. ABS is easily thermoformed and lends itself to remarkable reproduction of mold detail. Extruded ABS sheet can be easily heat formed using any conventional thermoplastic sheet forming equipment. ABS can be process with ease and versatility. Can be machined, turned, drilled, milled, sawed, bored, die-cut, routed and sheared using high speed carbide-tipped tools. ABS can be machined finished by filing, grinding, sanding, buffing and polishing. ABS can be adhered to itself and other like plastics using Weld-On adhesives.
