Magic Fire Blanket

The Magic Fire Blanket, as manufactured by Sapphire Flame Retardants especially for the Magic Fire Blanket Company, is a unique construct of non - toxic, environmentally friendly and inert PAN (oxidised Polyacryonitrile) fibres.

The fibre precursor is exposed to very high temperatures ( around **0 oC ) for an extended period of time in an inert gas environment , prior to construction of the blanket itself. This process eliminates the most highly volatile elements, thus giving the fibre it's unique flame retarding qualities.

The principal of this process is one of simple physics. You cannot burn something twice.

The principal properties of the blanket are:

• It has highly flame resistant characteristics. It can withstand temperatures of above ***0 oC without deterioration or hardening.
• It had very low heat shrinkage. For example, a blanket exposed to **0 oC for for 2 hours will shrink by less than 1½ percent.
• The limited oxygen index ( LOI ) is above *0 %, meaning that the air would have to contain at least *0 % pure oxygen in order to ignite the blanket.
• The blanket is non - toxic and does not emit any smoke, even when exposed to fire for an extended period.
• The blanket is soft and drapes easily around objects.
• It is light, non - abrasive and does not melt.
• The blanket has no competitors in the field of protection against intense heat, flames and hot metal splashing. Fibre glass and asbestos and ceramic fibre resist heat, but they are heavy and abrasive. In addition they are not environmentally friendly. In fact, both fibre glass and asbestos are downright dangerous.
