Application Guide for Blood Irradiation Indicator Label

Transfusion-associated graft-versus-host disease (TA-GVHD) is a serious side effect of blood transfusion, is usually fatal. Patients in certain clinical categories, including bone marrow transplants, solid tumors and acquired T cell defects, are at greater risk of developing TA-GVHD. TA-GVHD can be prevented by the irradiation of cellular blood products prior to transfusion

Indications: It is applicable for blood irradiated under *5gy with irradiators having cesium***7 or cobalt**0 radiation sources, or other sources producing radiation of equal or greater energy.

Feature:

Product is complied with CE certification. It can provide positive, visual verification of irradiation. Before radiation, the indicator window shows pink, and it turns to dark blue after irradiated under *5gy.

Usage:

(1) Take out the label from an independent bag; tear off the adhesive protective layer on the back.

(2) Attach the label to the surface of blood bag to be irradiated, and ensure good adherence.

(3) After the blood bag attached with the label is irradiated by a blood irradiator at an irradiation dose of *5Gy**0Gy, the color of test area on the label changes from pink to dark blue, suggesting that this blood bag has been irradiated. Repeated irradiation of blood bag should be avoided.

Storage: It should be stored in a cool, dry place, out of direct sunlight.
